DAYTONA BEACH -- The USCB track and field program turned in a strong performance at the 2025 Embry-Riddle Running Elements meet this past weekend, with the men's and women's squads delivering standout efforts that resulted in an eye-popping 30 personal bests across the two-day competition.
Leading the charge once again was junior Cam Edwards, who continues to redefine excellence for the Sand Sharks. The Savannah native broke two of his own school records, starting with a 7.24m long jump, before delivering a 14.65m triple jump that shattered his previous mark set just weeks ago in Myrtle Beach. Edwards' performance earned him third place in the events, adding more podium finishes to an already historic season.
Joining Edwards in the triple jump spotlight was Samuel Mitchell, who logged a 13.05m mark — landing him 9th overall and continued his consistent progress in the event.
In the throws, Jason Jose impressed with a 13.13m shot put, good for a top-6 finish and a new personal best. He followed that up with a 38.27m discus throw, placing 12th overall. Teammate Jaxson Allen made his mark in the hammer throw, registering a 38.36m toss that landed him inside the top 15. Rounding out the strong effort in the throws was Jake Laird, whose 48.62m javelin throw earned him 12th place in a competitive field.
On the women's side, De'Andra Brown continued her standout season with a strong showing across multiple events. She made her heptathlon debut with an impressive 6th place finish, a performance that now ranks her 3rd overall in the Peach Belt Conference.
Also excelling in field events was Kate Curry, who posted a 2.30m vault to place top-10 in the pole vault competition. Sophia Stalford added to the women's success with a 5th place finish in the discus, thanks to a season-best 37.03m throw. She also set a personal best in the hammer throw with a 35.91m mark.Â
With momentum building, members of the men's squad will now head to North Carolina to compete in the Duke Invitational this weekend, while the rest of the team travels to Statesboro, Georgia, for the Georgia Showdown hosted by Georgia Southern.
