BLUFFTON, SOUTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort women's basketball team picked up two conference wins this past week, including a victory over North Georgia, which currently sits first in the conference. The Sand Sharks were led in scoring in both games by Taniyah Bowman, who earned Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week honors.

This marks Bowman's second time this season receiving Player of the Week recognition from the conference.

She finished the week with 48 points (24.0 points per game), 11 rebounds, four assists, and two steals across the two games.

In the opening game of the week against Georgia Southwestern State, Bowman helped lead the Sand Sharks to a 74–66 victory. She recorded 22 points, five rebounds, four assists, and one steal. In the win, she scored the final 10 points for the Sand Sharks to seal the victory.

In the second game of the week, Bowman finished with a team-high 26 points. She added six rebounds and a steal in the win. After the Sand Sharks took a late lead, Bowman sealed the victory by scoring the final six points of the game in a 68–64 win.

The Sand Sharks return home on January 24 against the University of South Carolina Aiken at the Cove on Novant Health Court to close out the season series.
