BLUFFTON, SOUTH CAROLINA — The University of South Carolina Beaufort women's cross country team placed sixth overall at the 19th annual Sand Shark Invitational on Saturday morning. The Sand Sharks finished the meet with two inside the top 20 of the meet along with four personal bests on the day.
USC Aiken claimed the team title, led by individual champion Linah Ewoi.
The Sand Sharks were paced by Grace Murphy, who finished 15th overall with a time of 21:22.3 in the 5K race, for her new season and personal best. Avrie Farrington followed closely behind, placing 16th with a time of 21:32.6.
Charlotte Lee was the next Sand Shark to cross the finish line, recording a time of 22:51.7 to place 34th overall.
Kelsey Trayford finished 44th with a time of 24:23.1 which marks her new personal and season best for Trayford, while Alexis Moore placed 45th in 24:30.7 marking her new season and personal best. Emily Sawyer followed in 47th with a time of 25:02.2.
Mia Johnson placed 50th overall, finishing in 25:37.6 setting her new season and personal best, while Teresa Shepard rounded out the Sand Sharks' finishers with a 56th-place finish in 26:56 marking her new season best.
USCB will return to action on Oct. 17 in Spartanburg, S.C., for the Upstate Invite, hosted by USC Upstate.
