CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort women's cross country team opened the season at the Queens City Invite at McAlpine Creek Park, hosted by Queens University of Charlotte.

The Sand Sharks placed 19th overall in the meet, which featured a field led by Elon, Charlotte, and Marshall, all Division I programs.

USCB was led by Avrie Farrington, who placed 135th overall and was the first Sand Shark to cross the finish line. Farrington finished the 5K with a time of 22:02.7.

Next for the Sand Sharks was Charlotte Lee, who finished in 22:29.2 to place 149th overall and was the second USCB runner to cross the finish line.

Grace Murphy finished in 151st place with a time of 22:47.9, completing the race as USCB's third runner.

Grace Napoli finished 179th overall with a time of 26:00.5.

Alexis Moore was next for the Sand Sharks, finishing 181st with a time of 26:06.0. Kelsey Trayford followed closely behind, finishing 182nd with a time of 26:06.3.

Mia Johnson completed the race in 185th place with a time of 26:40.5, followed by Teresa Shepard, who finished with a time of 28:41.4. Carlie Dippold placed 214th overall with a time of 33:32.

USCB's next meet is September 18 at Coastal Carolina for the Chanticleer Challenge in Conway, South Carolina
