MILL SPRING, NORTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort men's track and field team competed on day one of the two-day Tryon Mid-Winter Invitational on Friday.
The Sand Sharks found success with five top-five finishes, including a school record in the 4000m distance medley relay (DMR).
USCB, led by Drake Edmonds, Zachariah Sellers, Braxton Talley, and Zachery Vowles, broke the school record in the 4000m DMR by seven seconds, placing fourth overall in the event.
Elliott Howe competed in the 5000m, placing 22nd overall with a final time of 16:56.31.
In the weight throw, Jaxson Allen led the way for the Sand Sharks with a mark of 12.40m, placing 33rd overall. Devin Watson placed 39th, followed by Jason Jose in 40th.
Aiden O'Neil led the charge in the pole vault with a top-five finish, placing third overall with a mark of 4.50m. Ethan Cockayne placed 12th overall at 4.05m.
The triple jump the Sand Sharks found success with a second place finish by Cameron Edwards at 14.77M with Samuel Mitchell in the 3rd place in the triple jump.
Jayden Rodriguez led the Sand Sharks in the high jump, placing third overall with a mark of 1.90m. Channing Robinson earned a top-10 finish in the event, placing sixth overall.
The Sand Sharks will conclude the two-day meet on Saturday in Mill Spring, North Carolina, at the Tryon Mid-Winter Invitational.
