Sand Sharks Drop Game Two of Series Against Middle Georgia

HARDEEVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team honored its 15 seniors before the game on Senior Day. USCB struck first, but the Knights rallied with a six-run seventh inning to pull away.

Kris Levensteins led the team with four hits. Cooper McDaniel, Maddox Robinson, and Tyler Gundelfinger each had three hits, while Robinson recorded a team-high two RBIs.

After a scoreless top of the first inning from Joe Turner, it was Gundelfinger who drove in the Sand Sharks' first run of the game, giving USCB a 1–0 lead as McDaniel scored.

The game remained 1–0 until the top of the third inning, when a single and a walk set up a two-RBI double to give the Knights their first lead. They added two more runs—first on a sacrifice fly, then on an RBI single—to make it 4–1.

USCB answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. A McDaniel single set the stage for a two-run home run by Robinson, cutting the deficit to 4–3.

Middle Georgia held that 4–3 advantage until the bottom of the fifth, when the Sand Sharks tied the game. Singles by Gundelfinger and Jon Davis led to a Mitchell Singletary groundout that brought the score to 4–4.

The game stayed tied until the top of the seventh, when an error gave the Knights a 5–4 lead. They then broke the game open with two RBI singles to extend the lead to 8–4, followed by an RBI double and another RBI single to push it to 10–4.

Levensteins drove in the Sand Sharks' fifth run, scoring Gundelfinger. However, the Knights responded with a two-RBI double to make it 12–5 through eight innings.

USCB added one more run in the ninth on an RBI single by Raeder McIntire, again scoring Gundelfinger, but ultimately fell 12–6 in the second game of the series.

The final game of the 2026 season will be Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. against Middle Georgia.
