Octavio Laurent Tied for 19th After Opening Round at NCAA DII National Championship

BLUFFTON, SOUTH CAROLINA - The University of South Carolina Beaufort men's golfer Octavio Laurent closed out round one of the NCAA Division II Men's National Championship on Monday afternoon in Boulder City, Nevada. West Texas A&M and Missouri-St. Louis are tied for first place after day one, with each team sitting at 10-under par.

The individual leader board is currently led by Luis Palomo, David Vega Gerstel, and George Cordall, who are each at 6-under par.

Laurent finished day one tied for 19th overall out of 109 golfers in the field. He carded a 2-under-par 70 in the opening round. On the day, he recorded six birdies, tied for the fifth most in the tournament, along with eight pars.

Laurent has two rounds remaining in the championship tournament. He is scheduled to tee off at 4:55 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, May 19, in Boulder City, Nevada.
