Men’s Golf Finishes Ninth at NCAA Regional; Laurent Advances to NCAA Tournament Championship

Valdosta, Georgia — The University of South Carolina Beaufort men's golf team concluded the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional on Saturday afternoon with the third and final round of the tournament. The Sand Sharks placed ninth overall and were led by Octavio Laurent, who finished fourth individually.

USCB completed the three rounds with a total score of 867 (288-293-286) to secure ninth place. Nova Southeastern University won the regional, followed by University of West Florida and Lee University to round out the top three teams. Cooper Tendick claimed the individual title.

Laurent led the way for the Sand Sharks, finishing with a three-round total of 205 (69-70-66), good for 11-under par. He continued climbing the leaderboard on the final day by shooting a 66 (-6), earning a fourth-place finish and a berth in the NCAA Tournament Championship. In the third round, Laurent recorded seven birdies and 10 pars. Overall, he totaled 14 birdies, 34 pars, and one eagle during the tournament.

Next for the Sand Sharks was Aaron Williams, who finished with a total score of 219 (70-76-73). In the third round, he carded two birdies and 13 pars. Across the tournament, Williams recorded 12 birdies and 30 pars to finish tied for 44th overall.

Dylan Allen placed 55th overall after carding a 221 (75-72-74). In the third round, Allen recorded one eagle, two birdies, and nine pars. Over the three rounds, he totaled one eagle, 12 birdies, and 25 pars.

The next two Sand Sharks tied for 83rd overall, as Nikolai Holme and Christofer Hammar each finished with a 228. Holme carded rounds of 77-75-76, including two birdies and 11 pars in the final round. He totaled six birdies and 33 pars during the tournament.

Hammar finished with rounds of 74-81-73 and recorded three birdies and 11 pars in the final round. Across the tournament, he totaled one eagle, seven birdies, and 28 pars.

The Sand Sharks finished ninth overall as a team, while Laurent advanced to the NCAA Tournament Championship, scheduled for May 18-22.
