CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA — The University of South Carolina Beaufort Men's Cross Country team competed in its first race of the season Friday evening at the Queens City Invite, hosted by Queens University of Charlotte.

The Sand Sharks finished 17th overall in the meet, while Charlotte placed first followed by North Florida.

Tarun Duraipandi was the first Sand Shark to cross the finish line, placing 76th overall with a time of 27:17.7. Zachery Vowles followed closely behind, finishing 77th with a time of 27:18.1.

Elliott Howe was the next USCB runner to finish, placing 95th overall with a time of 27:46.2.

Drake Edmonds and Rickson Figueroa were the next Sand Sharks to finish, placing within five spots of one another. Edmonds finished 140th with a time of 28:57.8, followed by Figueroa in 145th with a time of 29:07.9.

Benton Cantrell finished 172nd with a time of 30:14.2, followed by Nathan Shouse in 182nd with a time of 30:42.5.

Ryan Kurz was the next Sand Shark to finish, placing 197th with a time of 31:34.9, followed by Nolan Lamoreaux in 198th with a time of 31:40.9. Mekhi Champaigne closed out the meet for the Sand Sharks, finishing 221st with a time of 34:57.8.

USCB will return to action on September 18 at Coastal Carolina University for the Chanticleer Challenge in Conway, South Carolina.
