CONWAY, SOUTH CAROLINA — The University of South Carolina Beaufort Men's Cross Country team competed in the 2026 Chanticleer Challenge on Friday evening at The Hackler Course in Conway, South Carolina.
The Sand Sharks finished fourth overall with 98 points. Coastal Carolina won the team competition, while Coastal Carolina's Adam Groves claimed the individual title.
USCB was led by Tarun Duraipandi, who finished 16th overall in the 8K with a time of 26:30.80, recording a new season best.
Elliott Howe followed, placing 18th overall with a time of 26:50.52. Howe's performance marked both a new season best and a new collegiate best in the 8K.
Zachery Vowles finished 19th overall in 26:51.17, recording a new season best for himself in the 8k..
Rickson Figueroa was the next Sand Shark across the line, placing 23rd overall with a time of 28:03.68. His performance established a new collegiate best in the 8K.
Nolan Lamoreaux finished 24th overall in 28:40.11, setting a new collegiate best.
Benton Cantrell placed 26th overall with a time of 29:14.77, recording a new season best, while Nathan Shouse finished 27th in 29:16.93, establishing a new collegiate best in the 8K.
USCB's final two runners were Ryan Kurz and Adam Watson. Kurz placed 29th overall in 29:47.41, earning a new season best. Watson finished 30th in 29:57.18, setting a new collegiate best with the Sand Sharks.
The Sand Sharks return to action on Oct. 10, when USCB hosts the 19th annual Sand Shark Invitational at Sergeant Jasper County Park.
