INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
OKATIE, S.C. - Just a few weeks after USCB women's golf defeated NCAA DI Appalachian State, the USCB men's golf team upended another DI team, Butler, on the final stroke to win 291-292 on Thursday, March 12 at Oldfield Golf Club.
Highlights
Going down to the final putt, senior Marc Sweeney knocked down a four-foot putt to lift USCB over DI Butler by one stroke in the home match. This is the second time this year the men's and women's golf teams have defeated a NCAA DI team in head-to-head matches.
Jacob Thomas led the Sand Sharks individually at 1-under 71. He was one stroke back of the leader, Luke Wells of Butler, as the Bulldog shot a 2-under 70.
Dawson Peters and Will Canipe tied one another at 1-over 73 rounds, and Sweeney placed sixth at 2-over 74 on Thursday.
Rounding out the finishes for the Sand Sharks was Veerapat Bhasavanich at 6-over 78.
What's Next?
The men's team will tentatively return to the links on April 6-7, as it will travel to Dalton State for the Roadrunner Classic. The two-day tournament is held in Rocky Face, Ga. at The Farm Golf Club.
