VONORE, Tenn. - Sophomore Kayla Ramsey and freshman Ashleigh Mead collected top-5 finishes on Sunday, as the USCB women's golf team wrapped up competition at the TWU Fall Invitational at the Links at Kahite.
Day Two Highlights
Ramsey had the best overall finish for USCB at the two-day outing, as the sophomore finished in fourth place. The Centerville, Ohio native finished the outing with a 15-over 159 (77-82).
The other Sand Shark inside the top 5 was Mead. The rookie golfer was tied for third on Saturday but fell just two spots to finish the outing at 16-over 160 (76-84).
Junior Molly Minasi was one of only 10 golfers to improve their scores from the first to second round. The Bluffton, S.C. native carded an 8-over 80 on Sunday en route to a 21-over 165. Minasi concluded the two-round tournament in a three-way tie for eighth.
As a team, the Sand Sharks finished in third place at the TWU Fall Invitational. USCB posted a 51-over 339 to conclude the outing.
Host-school Tennessee Wesleyan claimed the team title at 67-over 643 (328-315), and Midway finished runner-up at 80-over 656 (332-324).
Kelsey Cassada of TWU, who was in second yesterday, won the individual trophy, as she won by three strokes over Whitney Messer of Union. Cassada posted a 3-over 147 (75-72), while Messer inked a 6-over 150 (74-76) to end the outing.
What's Next?
The women's golf team will take three weeks off to prepare for the Webber Fall Invitational. It is also a two-day tournament and begins on Oct. 12 in Sebring, Fla.
