TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - To conclude the two-day 2021 Battle at Hilton Head, three USCB women's golfers improved their scores from the first to second rounds, as the Sand Sharks concluded play at Palmetto Dunes on Tuesday.
Day Two Highlights
Freshman golfer Ashleigh Mead, again, headlined the results for USCB at the Battle at Hilton Head, as she shaved off three strokes from the opening day of the tournament. Mead, who shot 12-over 84 on Monday, collected a 9-over 81 on Tuesday to lead the Sand Shark team. Also similar to Monday, Mead had success from holes two through four, as she shot par or better in that three-hole stretch (birdied the par-5, hole four). Mead also strung together four straight birdies in the final round from holes 12-15. Overall Mead finished tied for 30th with six other golfers at 21-over 165.
Right behind her on Tuesday was sophomore Kayla Ramsey. Like Mead, Ramsey also improved from the first to second round - ironically by three strokes. Ramsey opened the day with three consecutive pars from holes 9-11, and she ended her day with five pars or better from holes 1-7. Ramsey finished the two-round tournament tied for 37th.
Molly Minasi and Alejandra Rodriguez also represented the Sand Sharks in the NCAA DII tournament. Minasi finished the outing at 28-over 172 (85-87), while Rodriguez shot a 35-over 179.
As a team, USCB finished in 11th place out of 13 teams. From the first to second round, the Sand Sharks shaved off five strokes as a team.
Carson Newman barely held on to the top spot, as it won the outing at 53-over 629, and Lenoir-Rhyne lost by one stroke, as it garnered runner-up status.
Jenna Nagy moved from a tie from second on Monday to win the tournament by one stroke. The Belmont Abbey golfer went 76-74 (150) to best Megan Robb of Lenoir-Rhyne by one stroke.
