BLUFFTON, S.C.. - CoSIDA (College of Sports Information Directors of America) announced its highly-competitive NAIA Academic All-District teams today, and USCB men's golfers Dawson Peters and Jacob Thomas were two of the 11 athletes to be named to the District 1 squad, which consists of 22 states at the NAIA level.
The two Sand Shark golfer keep hearing their names after a phenomenal 2020-21 campaign where they earned numerous amounts of awards, including All-American honors from several organizations.
To be named to the CoSIDA All-District Team, the student-athlete must display excellence on and off the playing field, while maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5.
Peters, who just finished his second year at USCB, is a business administration major and sports a 3.63 GPA. Not to be outdone, Thomas has a 3.54 GPA, as he also majors in business administration.
Peters has seen his name on several prestigious awards, including NAIA All-American, NAIA PING All-American, NAIA PING All-South Region, All-Sun Conference, Jack Nicklaus Watch List, Sun Conference Golfer of the Year and Sun Conference All-Academic. Thomas has also heard his name numerous times this year, including NAIA All-American, Sun Conference All-Academic, NAIA PING All-South and now CoSIDA Academic All-District.
Thomas had the best outing for the Sand Sharks at the NAIA Championship, as he finished in a tie for 13th place. He rounded out the year with a 74.41 scoring average and also posted his season-best score (66) twice at the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational and The Oldfield Classic.
Peters had the best scoring average on the USCB team at 72.77 and also collected a season-low 66 outing, which was posted at the Roadrunner Classic. Peters finished inside the top 15 in 12 of the 13 events this year, including winning three events.
