Thomas Finishes Second After Shooting Sub-Par on Final Day of Sun Conference Championship

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Behind shooting sub-par on Tuesday, senior Jacob Thomas led the USCB men's golf team on the final day, as he slotted in second place in the postseason event at PGA National. The Sand Shark squad placed fourth, as it shot the lowest team score on the final day (9-over 297).

Day Three Highlights

Thomas was the biggest highlight for the USCB squad at the three-day outing, as the Canadian finished second in the league's postseason tournament. On Tuesday, he was one of three golfers to shoot sub-par (all finished top-3), as he collected a 1-under 71. He etched three birdies to go along with 13 pars. He was lights out from holes three to 11, as he went 2-under in that nine-hole stretch. Overall, Thomas led the entire field by inking 37 total pars. At the three-day outing, Thomas went 4-over 220 (73-76-71).

Dawson Peters had his best round on Tuesday at the Sun Conference Championship, as the senior went 1-over 73. He collected six birdies on the final day, and he went even-par 36 from holes one to nine. With his lowest 18-hole performance, Peters improved eight spots on the individual leaderboard to finish in a three-way for 17th at 20-over 236 (86-77-73).

Tyler Fox had the second-best Sand Shark finish at the tournament, as he went 16-over 232 (78-78-76) en route to placing tied for 11th. Like his teammates, he also improved in the third round, as he shaved off two strokes on Tuesday. Fox inked a 4-over 76, which featured three birdies and nine pars.

Fabian Fallenius had the last qualifying score for the Sand Shark on the final day. The rookie golfer shot 5-over 77, which was his tournament-best too. He improved by two spots to place tied for 30th at 32-over 248.

Jonas Demant finished inside the top-25 for USCB. He shot a 24-over 240 (85-76-79) to conclude his action at the Sun Conference Championship.

As a team, USCB had the best team score on Tuesday by firing a 9-over 297. Despite the lowest team outing, USCB improved just one spot and was just three strokes back of second-place Southeastern. The Sand Sharks finished at 61-over 925.

No. 1 Keiser took home the team title at 31-over 895, while Southeastern finished second at 58-over 922.

Keiser's Javier Neira Garcia held on to the top spot on the individual leaderboard, as he finished 1-under 215. He edged Thomas by five strokes.

What's Next?

The Sand Sharks will now take three weeks off to rest and prepare for the NAIA National Championship. The four-day national title is set for May 17-20 in Silvis, Illi.
