WILMINGTON ISLAND, Ga. - After playing 18 holes to begin the Sun Conference Tournament on Sunday morning, the USCB women's golf team currently sits in sixth, as three Sand Shark golfers are inside the top 20.
Day One Highlights
After playing 18 holes in the 54-hole postseason tournament, USCB is currently in sixth place and just six strokes back from moving two spots on the team leaderboard. The Sand Sharks combined for a 50-over 334 and is six strokes behind St. Thomas, who went 44-over 328.
Rookie golfer Kate Dickerson leads the Sand Shark pack, as she shot a 10-over 81. She matched her scores on the front and back nine at 5-over en route to slotting into a tie for 15th.
Ashleigh Mead and Cassie Tasney, who are playing at the number one and number two spots - respectively - for USCB, are tied for 20th after 18 holes of play. Mead collected two birdies, and Tasney posted one, as they both inked a 12-over 83. Tasney had the best back nine for USCB on Sunday, as she went an impressive 1-over 37.
Kayla Ramsey rounded out the qualifying scores for the Sand Sharks. She posted a 16-over 87.
Alejandra Rodriguez also played, as she went 18-over 89.
Southeastern finds itself alone at the top of the team leaderboard at 24-over 308. Just one stroke back, though, is Keiser, who posted a 25-over 309.
Ariana Castro of SCAD holds a one-stroke lead on two golfers on the individual side. The Bee went 3-over 74 to edge Valentina Espinosa of SEU and Serra Evrengil of Keiser (both carded 4-over 75s).
What's Next?
The second day of the Sun Conference Tournament will begin on Monday at 9:50 a.m. with a staggered start. USCB will start on hole one and be paired with Coastal Georgia.
