KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The NAIA announced its All-America teams, and two Sand Sharks - Dawson Peters and Jacob Thomas - collected First Team All-American honors. The awards were selected by the NAIA Men's Golf Coaches' Association All-America Committee.
Peters, who was just recently named a GCAA All-American, All-South Region and CoSIDA All-District, keeps adding awards with another prestigious honor from the NAIA.
Peters concluded his Sand Shark career this past week at the NAIA Nationals, where he finished tied for 34th. He finished the 2021-22 season with a team-best 73.60 scoring average. Overall, he shot even or better in 14 rounds this year and also finished in the top 15 in eight tournaments. Peters posted a career-best and program record in the first tournament of the year, which was a 7-under 64 performance at the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational.
Thomas, who recently earned CoSIDA All-District and All-South Region honors, earned his first NAIA First Team All-American honor after being tabbed Second Team All-American for the last two years.
On the links, Thomas had another phenomenal campaign, where he was second on the team in scoring average at 73.66. He led the Sand Sharks at the NAIA National Championship, where he placed tied for 11th at even-par 284. On the year, Thomas played in all 36 rounds and 13 tournaments, and he posted 14 rounds of shooting even-par or better.
