GREENWOOD, S.C. - In a field that features nine top-50 ranked NCAA DII teams, junior USCB women's golfer Ashleigh Mead is tied for second among the nation's best at the Lady Bearcat Invitational on Monday at the Greenwood Country Club.
Day One Highlights
Mead was stellar in the first round, as she carded an even-par 72 score. She went 1-under from holes 10-18, which featured two birdies on back-to-back holes. She finished 1-over 37 from holes 1-9. In the second round, Mead has two holes left in the round, but she was playing strong golf, as she is currently 1-under in the second round. Through 34 holes, Mead is 1-under and tied with two other golfers.
Cassie Tasney had a strong first round - primarily on her first 14 holes. During that stretch, she went 1-under, but she slipped a little with a bogey and two double bogeys to end 4-over 76 in round one. Tasney has just one hole left in the second round, as she is currently 7-over par. She had three birdies in the second round, holes 1, 11 and 15 and is tied for 49th.
Jessica Hoeft opened the day at 14-over 86, but she was lights out in the second round, as she is currently 2-over par. She has two holes left, but she has collected 12 pars and a birdie so far. She is tied for 67th.
Jessica Edwards and Alejandra Rodriguez also competed. Edwards is 21-over par, while Rodriguez is 28-over par.
The Sand Sharks are in 12th place on the team headboard at 47-over par.
No. 5 Anderson leads the field at 1-over par, while No. 12 Lee is in second at 14-over par.
No. 43 Kerington Lamb of Anderson holds just a one-stroke lead on the field at 2-under 142.

USCB will conclude its final round on Tuesday morning and then will play its third and final round of the Lady Bearcat Invitational beginning at 8 a.m.
