AMERICUS, Ga. - To open another challenging Peach Belt Conference series, the USCB softball team fell to Georgia Southwestern on Friday, 13-0 and 8-0, to open the three-game slate with the Canes at the Lady Canes Field.

HOW GAME ONE HAPPENED
After leaving one Sand Sharks on base in the top of the first, GSW tallied three runs in the first to take the 3-0 lead. 
The Sand Sharks, again, threatened in the second, but Georgia Southwestern left them stranded and plated four more runs to take the 7-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
After allowing GSW to score five in the third, GSW added on more more insurance run in the fourth to make it a 13-0 game. 
The Sand Sharks' best chance to break onto the scoreboard was in the top of the fourth when two players reached with one out. However, the Cane starting pitcher worked out of the jam in the run-ruled shortened loss for USCB.

Tamiyah Whitlock - 1-for-2, double
Caitlin Toole - 0.2 innings, no runs, no hits, one walk
HOW GAME TWO HAPPENED
Similar to game one, USCB was able to get a runner on in the first inning, as Whitlock led off the game with a double. She moved to third on a sacrifice bunt, but two groundouts kept USCB off the scoreboard.
After holding USCB scoreless, GSW went to work with a pair of runs off one swing of the bat in the first inning. 
The Sand Sharks were able to keep the Cane lineup at bay in the second, for the first time in the doubleheader, but Georgia Southwestern kept up its relentless offense in the third, fourth and fifth innings to enforce the run-rule win, 8-0.
