Kinlaw Twirls Complete-Game Shutout; USCB Splits with Young Harris

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - Sophomore left-handed pitcher Cierra Kinlaw dazzled in the circle for USCB softball with a complete-game shutout in game one, 3-0, but Young Harris took the night cap, 8-1, to settle for a split on Friday at Richard Gray Stadium.

INSIDE THE GAME ONE BOX SCORE

Jazmin Ramirez - 2-for-3, double, single, two RBIs

Jaci Coleman - 1-for-2, single, one run

Ashlyn Alte - 1-for-3, single, one run

Kinlaw - seven innings, win, four hits, no runs, six strikeouts

HOW GAME ONE HAPPENED

The first three innings went by quickly for both teams, but the fourth inning featured a ton of offense for USCB. The Sand Sharks worked some two-out magic by using four hits to push across one run.

After a scoreless fifth, USCB's offense tacked on two more insurance runs in the sixth. Taylor VanHouse touched home thanks to a Mountain Lion throwing error. The lead tripled, 3-0, when Ramirez connected with a run-scoring double to center.

Kinlaw was outstanding in the circle for USCB, as she had two 1-2-3 innings for the Sand Sharks. She scattered just four hits, as she didn't allow multiple hits in one inning in the complete-game shutout.

INSIDE THE GAME TWO BOX SCORE

Ramirez - 1-for-3, single, one run

Mackenzie Freeman - 1-for-3, double

Daryl Miller - one RBI

Caylee Busbee - four innings, two earned runs, two strikeouts

HOW GAME TWO HAPPENED

The second game of the doubleheader posted a lot of offense for the Mountain Lions, as they plated two runs in the first followed by three in the third.

USCB scratched across its lone run of the contest in the home half of the third, as Ramirez touched home after her leadoff single.

Up 5-1, Young Harris added on three total runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take a seven-run lead.

The Sand Sharks tried to mount a comeback in the seventh when Freeman whacked a double and Alte reached via a walk. However, the last two outs were recorded before they could touch home.
