FRIPP ISLAND -- USCB's Ashleigh Mead finished tied for third at the Women's South Carolina Golf Association Amatuer Championship last week at Fripp Island. 

The junior, representing the Belfair Golf Club, finished +6 for the tournament with a 222 total score. 

Her first round couldn't have started off any better as she recorded birdies on three of the first four holes. After a bogey on number five, she birdied number seven before carding pars to wrap up the front nine. She was even par through the first five holes on the back nine and she moved to -4 par with a birdie on the par three 15th. At the conclusion of round one, she led the field shooting a 68. 

She opened round two with three consecutive pars before posting a double bogey on number four. A bogey on the par three 8th moved her to three over on the day. The struggles continued after the turn, carding over par scores on three of the first four holes on the back nine. She recorded a birdie on the par four 14th and finished the round with an 81. 

Heading into the final round, Mead was sitting in third place, five strokes behind leader Sophia Burnett. Through the front nine she was even par and moved to -1 after a birdie on number 11. Back-to-back bogies moved her to one-over and worked her way back to even after a birdie on 16. Another bogey followed before she par 18 to conclude the final round +1.
