Edwards, Hoffman highlight USCB at RADD Sports College Invite

GAINESVILLE -- Cameron Edwards made it to the finals in both the long and triple jump and Hannah Hoffman won her heat in the 200m dash highlighting USCB's men's and women's track and field team events at the RADD Sports College Invitational Friday in Gainesville. 

Edwards' finished seventh in the long jump posting a 6.47m mark, setting a personal best surpassing his previous mark of 6.18. He then notched a top-five finish in the triple jump finishing with a distance of 14.05m also a new personal best. Hoffman finished 28th overall in the 200m dash, but won her heat with a time of 27.80. De'Andra Brown and Marcela Shartouny finished with times of 28.99 and 29.01 while Aniyah Wright rounded out Beaufort's four with a time of 29.96. Brown and Wright each competed in the long and triple jumps while the sophomore finishing with distance of 10.57 in the triple and the senior with a distance of 4.49m in the long jump.

In the distance medly relay, the foursome of Taylor Atkinson, LeeAisha Ford, Sofia Mejia ,and Cydney Stevenson finished fourth with a time of 15:11.61 and on the men's side Vance Fleming, Jay King, Michael Johnson, and Jacob Mitchell posted a time of 11:26.27 to finish second. Mejia and Stevenson ran in the 600m and 1000m runs clocking times of 2:02.68 and 3:46.45 respectively. King and Mitchell competed in the same events on the men's side notching top 10 finishes with King's 600m time being 1:28.67 and Mitchell's 1000m time 2:38.94. 

Johnson made his debut in the shot put event posting a 7.59m distance. Allayah Bryan and Sophia Stalford competed on the women's throw events with Stalford posting a 8.31m shot put and a 9.46 weight throw. Bryan missed her first two attempts out of bounds and fouled on her final attempt. 

Lastly, in the pole vault Jake Laird and Zach Markow finished inside the top 15 with Laird getting over at 3.00 meters and Markow at 3.15m. 

The Sand Sharks return to Gainesville this weekend at the Alachua County Invitational.
