Edwards wins long, triple jump, Martello first in hammer at GSU Relays

STATESBORO -- Cameron Edwards took home the win in both the long and triple jump while finishing second in the high jump and Michael Martello continued his success in the hammer throw finishing first in the flight as USCB's track and field team finished second in the men's and third in the women's field at the Georgia Southern Relays this weekend in Statesboro.

Edwards posted a 6.12m on his third attempt in the long jump to take the podium on Friday. He continued his success on Saturday jumped 13.15m in the triple. The Guyton native finished second in the high jump after finishing .06m behind Brewton Parker's Errol Quallo in the high jump with a height of 1.83m. After breaking the school record in the hammer throw in the previous meet, Martello posted a 46.24m throw to earn first. He finished second in both the discus and shot put.

Sophia Stalford posted a 30.59m distance in the hammer throw, good for third place in the event.

USCB travels to Daytona Beach on Thursday to compete in the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic.
