BLUFFTON, South Carolina – The Sand Shark Men's Cross Country team hosted the 18th Annual Sand Shark Invitational on Saturday morning at Sergeant Jasper Park, competing against 14 other programs. The team finished seventh overall, led by Braxton Talley, who earned a 15th-place finish.
Bethune-Cookman's Andrew Kiplagat won the individual title, while Southeastern University took home the team victory.
Talley paced the Sand Sharks with a time of 26:17.1 in the 8K—his fastest time of the season.
Zachery Vowles followed as the second Sand Shark to finish, placing 26th overall with a time of 26:44.8.
Elliott Howe clocked in at 28:31.4, earning a 61st-place finish.
Running his fastest 8K of the season, Beckett Jones posted a time of 28:47.4.
Ryan Kurz continued the team's momentum, finishing in 29:06.4, setting a new personal best in the 8K.
Benton Cantrell placed 69th with a time of 29:07.0, his second-fastest race of the season.
Rickson Figueroa capped off the day for the Sand Sharks with a time of 30:29.0, marking both a new personal best and career record.
The Sand Sharks will have a week off before returning to action at the 2025 Peach Belt Conference Championships on October 25.
