WINGATE, NORTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort men's cross country team made program history on Saturday morning, competing in its first-ever NCAA Regional Meet in Wingate, North Carolina. The Sand Sharks had five runners represent the team in the 10K race, their first 10K of the season.
Overall Wingate earned the team meet win placing first overall while Lars Laros of Wingate placed first overall individually.
Braxton Talley led the way for USC Beaufort, placing 109th overall with a time of 36:26.7.
Next across the line for the Sand Sharks was Elliott Howe, who finished in 36:53.6 to take 115th place.
Benton Cantrell followed with a 39:01 finish, placing 145th overall in the regional meet for the Sand Sharks.
Ryan Kurz clocked in at 39:41.1 next for the Sand Sharks earning 153rd place.
Rickson Figueroa rounded out the lineup for the Sand Sharks, finishing with a time of 43:00.0 and placing 159th overall in the race.
The meet marked a major milestone for the program, as the Sand Sharks competed in their first NCAA Division II Regional and completed their first 10K race in program history.
