TOCCOA, GEORGIA - The University of South Carolina Beaufort women's golf team closed out the fall portion of its schedule on Tuesday afternoon at the Ralph Hayes Toyota D2 Elite Invitational at the Currahee Golf Club.
After battling weather through the first two rounds, the team was able to complete the final 26 holes on Tuesday after the second round was canceled. The Sand Sharks placed 16th overall in the field, finishing with a total score of 633 (323–310).
Anderson (S.C.) captured the overall team title, while Ariana Carvalho as the individual champion of the invitational.
McLain Neal led the Sand Sharks, placing fifth overall to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Neal finished the tournament one over par, posting her best round in the opener, where she shot even par. She recorded six birdies and 22 pars over the two rounds.
Next for the Sand Sharks was Camila Giordani, who finished 58th overall with a total score of 158, with a best round in the first-round of a 78. Giordani tallied 23 pars during the tournament.
Manon Tortelier placed 80th overall with a total of 164, recording her best round with an 81. She finished with 15 pars and three birdies across the two rounds.
Anna Grace Brown followed, finishing 86th overall with a total score of 173, including a best round of 81. Brown recorded one eagle on the first hole of the first round, along with 13 pars and one birdie for the tournament.
Rounding out the lineup, Izzy Codling finished with a total of 176, with a best round in the second with a toal of 76. Codling posted 12 pars and four birdies during the event.
This tournament marked the conclusion of the fall season for the Sand Sharks. The team will return to action in the spring semester at the Battle at Hilton Head on February 16 in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
