St. Simons Island, Georgia – The USCB Women's Golf team began play at the St. Simons Intercollegiate on Sunday, opening the first round of the three-day, three-round tournament hosted by Lincoln Memorial University at the King and Prince Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
After the first round, Wingate University leads the field with a team score of 290 (+2). Individually, Sofia Terzoli tops the leader board with a 69 (-3).
Overall for the Sand Sharks the team sits in ninth place after day one of the tournament after finishing with a team total of 313 (+25) for the day.
For the Sand Sharks, McLain Neal is off to a strong start, tied for seventh overall after shooting a 73 (+1). Neal recorded 13 pars and two birdies in the opening round.
Isobelle Codling carded a 77 (+5), placing her in a tie for 33rd overall. Codling notched 12 pars and was one of four Sand Sharks to finish with two birdies in the round.
Camila Giordani sits tied for 64th after posting an 81 (+9), highlighted by two birdies and seven pars.Tatiana Ruesta is in 68th place following a round of 82 (+10). She also recorded two birdies and seven pars.
Rounding out the lineup, Manon Tortelier finished the day in 72nd place with a score of 83 (+11), tallying 10 pars.
The Sand Sharks will return to the course on Monday, October 6, for the second round of the St. Simons Intercollegiate.
