MONORE -- The No. 15-ranked USCB men's golf team delivered a strong performance at the Ralph Hargett Memorial on Tuesday afternoon, securing a second-place finish in a highly competitive field. The Sand Sharks showcased their depth and consistency, placing three golfers in the top 10 and finishing ahead of two top-25 teams, including No. 5 Grand Valley State and No. 25 Lenoir-Rhyne.
Leading the charge for USCB was Ellis Bright, who carded an impressive 4-under 68. Bright started his round in stellar fashion, tallying three birdies in his first eight holes. After making the turn and recording pars on holes 9 and 10, he added consecutive birdies on 12 and 13 before closing with six straight pars. His solid play earned him a tie for 10th place overall.
Erik Rengardt posted the best individual finish for the Sand Sharks, claiming second place with a 7-under tournament total. He wrapped up the final round with a 1-under 71. Rengardt remained even par through five holes before a birdie on No. 6. A bogey on the par-4 8th briefly set him back, but he responded with consecutive birdies on holes 9 and 10, followed by another pair on 13 and 14. His only major setback came on hole 15, where he recorded a quadruple bogey. Despite that, his overall performance anchored USCB's strong showing.
Nicolas Normand also turned in an impressive outing, securing a tie for fourth place at 6-under. He put together his best tournament of the season, shooting 2-under on the front nine and 1-over on the back to finish 1-under in the final round.
Nikolai Holme displayed resilience after a rough start, sitting at 4-over after his first three holes. He quickly found his rhythm with four birdies over the next six holes and three straight pars from holes 12-14. A birdie late in his round helped offset a couple of bogeys, leading to a 1-over finish on the day.
Aaron Williams rounded out the Sand Sharks' lineup with a 3-over 75 in the final round. He highlighted his round with birdies on holes 2 and 13.
