BLUFFTON -- The University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) women's golf team put together a determined effort at the Oldfield Intercollegiate, finishing in seventh place overall with a team score of 943, concluding the tournament at 79-over.
Jessica Edwards led the way for the Sand Sharks, delivering a strong performance in the final round. She carded a 2-over round to secure a 13th-place individual finish at 13-over for the tournament. After a challenging start with three consecutive bogeys, Edwards rebounded impressively, making a birdie on the par-5 11th and following it up with a remarkable eagle on the very next hole, chipping in from the fringe. She maintained her composure throughout the round, adding two more bogeys but playing steady golf with pars on her remaining holes.
Manon Tortelier made the biggest climb on the leaderboard for USCB, moving up nine spots thanks to a 5-over 77 in the final round. Despite a triple bogey on the par-4 9th and another bogey on the 10th, she responded with a birdie on 11. She faced some struggles over the next stretch, carding bogeys on four of the next seven holes. However, she finished strong, recording birdies on holes 1 and 4 before closing out with four consecutive pars.
McLain Neal showed resilience in her final round, battling through an early setback of four straight bogeys. A double bogey on the par-3 13th pushed her to 6-over, but she steadied her play with seven consecutive pars before dropping one last bogey on hole 3. She closed her round on a high note, finishing with three straight pars to post a 7-over score.
Florence Phan and Camila Giordani rounded out the scoring for the Sand Sharks. Phan recorded a final-round 81, finishing 9-over, while Giordani opened her round with a birdie but struggled down the stretch, carding a 10-over finish.
With the Oldfield Intercollegiate now in the books, USCB looks ahead to wrapping up its regular season at the Mimosa Invitational, hosted by Appalachian State, beginning on March 31.
