LAKELAND, FLORIDA — The University of South Carolina Beaufort men's golf team opened its spring season at the Matlock Classic, hosted by Florida Southern in Lakeland, Florida.

USCB finished 12th overall, moving up one spot after the final round with team scores of 302-296-297 for a total of 895 (+31). West Florida claimed the team title, followed by host Florida Southern and Nova Southeastern. The individual winner was Donte Groppuso of Florida Southern.

Octavio Laurent closed the Matlock Classic with his best round of the tournament, shooting a 71 (-1). Laurent climbed 11 spots on the leaderboard to tie for 21st overall and led the field with 38 pars across the three rounds while recording seven birdies. He finished with a total score of 219 (76-72-71).

Nikolai Holme was the next Sand Shark on the leaderboard, finishing 41st overall after carding a final-round 73. Holme jumped 14 spots to close the tournament with a total of 225 (74-78-73). He recorded a team-high 12 birdies along with 23 pars.

Christofer Hammar placed 54th overall with a three-round total of 228 (73-78-77). Hammar tallied six birdies and 30 pars during the tournament.

Dylan Allen finished 59th overall with a final-round score of 79, ending the event with a total of 229 (79-71-79). He recorded 34 pars and six birdies.

Alejandro Rivas placed 62nd overall after shooting a 76 in the final round. He finished the tournament with a total of 230 (79-75-76), collecting seven birdies and 29 pars.

The Sand Sharks return to action at the Oldfield Classic, USCB's home tournament, on February 23–24 at Oldfield Golf Club.
