MILL SPRING, NORTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort women's track and field team competed Friday at the Tryon Mid-Winter Invitational, marking the first day of the two-day meet in North Carolina.
USCB recorded one top-10 finish for a strong showing to open the competition.
In the 600m, the Sand Sharks were led by Teresa Shepard, who placed ninth overall with a time of 1:49.26. Avrie Farrington followed with a 12th-place finish in the event.
Chandler Riley led the way in the 5000m, clocking a time of 20:23.18 to place 13th overall.
In the high jump, Chloe Campbell posted a mark of 1.45m, finishing 20th overall. The triple jump Victoria Ingram led the way with a 15th place finish at 10.61m. Brown placed 16th overall in the event at 10.57m.
Patton Casto led the team in the shot put, one of three athletes to compete. Casto finished 19th with a best mark of 10.89m. Victoria Colon placed 24th, followed by De'Andra Brown in 28th.
The Sand Sharks will conclude the two-day meet Saturday in Mill Spring, North Carolina, at the Tryon Mid-Winter Invitational.
