ATLANTA, GEORGIA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort women's track & field team opened the outdoor season on Friday at the Emory Spring Break Classic, competing in the first day of the two-day meet. USCB had a strong start, highlighted by a new school record in the hammer throw from Victoria Colon.
In the hammer throw, the Sand Sharks were led by Victoria Colon, who recorded a top-10 finish, placing sixth overall with a mark of 47.26m. Her performance set a new outdoor school record in the event. Sophia Stalford was 42nd overall in the event with a mark of 30.50m.
Grace Wolfe led the way for the Sand Sharks in the high jump, finishing with a mark of 1.45m to place 17th overall. Chloe Campbell was 20th overall followed by De'Andra Brown at 23rd.
In the 400m hurdles, the Sand Sharks were led by Hannah Burnside, who placed ninth overall with a time of 1:07.00. Maggie Olsen ended the event with a time of 1:07.78 for 14th overall.
Chandle Riley recorded a top-10 finish in the 5000m open, placing eighth overall with a time of 20:21.09.
