HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort women's golf team concluded its first spring tournament of the season on Tuesday afternoon. The Sand Sharks placed 10th overall at the Battle at Hilton Head tournament at Palmetto Dunes Golf Club, hosted by Lincoln Memorial University.
Wingate University claimed the team title, followed by Lander University and University of North Georgia. Amely Bochaton of Wingate earned first on the individual leaderboard
McLain Neal led the Sand Sharks, tying for 16th overall with two rounds of 75 (+3) before carding a final-round 78. Neal totaled three birdies across the three rounds, second-most on the team, while adding 37 pars, the most among the Sand Sharks and fifth-most in the tournament.
Camila Giordani finished 21st with a total score of 229, highlighted by a first-round 75. She recorded four birdies, the most on the team, and added 33 pars over three rounds.
Anna Grace Brown tied for 65th overall. Her best round came in the final round, where she shot a 79. Brown finished the tournament with two birdies and 25 pars.
Izzy Codling and Manon Tortelier both tied for 74th overall. Codling posted a total score of 253, with her best rounds of 82 coming in rounds two and three. Tortelier carded her best round, an 82, in the final round. Codling and Tortelier each recorded one birdie during the tournament.
Codling totaled 26 pars over three rounds, while Tortelier also recorded 26 pars at the Battle at Hilton Head.
The Sand Sharks return to action March 9–10 for a two-day tournament hosted by Wingate University in Wingate, North Carolina.
