VALDOSTA, GEORGIA — The University of South Carolina Beaufort men's golf team competed in the first round of the three-round NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional Tournament at Valdosta Country Club. Due to weather, other teams in the tournament will complete round one Friday morning.
The Sand Shark sit tied for ninth overall in the field and finished the day even as a team with a total of 288.
Leading the Sand Sharks was Octavio Laurent, who finished the opening round at 3-under par with a 69 after recording 12 pars, three birdies, and an eagle to begin the tournament, tied for 8th overall individually.
Aaron Williams was the next Sand Shark on the leaderboard, carding a 2-under-par 70. He finished the afternoon with seven birdies and five pars through the opening 18 holes, as he is tied for 12th in the tournament.
In 56th overall is Christofer Hammar as he was the next Sand Shark, finishing at 2-over par with a 74. He completed round one with an eagle, two birdies, and eight pars.
Next was Dylan Allen, who finished at 3-over par with a 75. In round one, he recorded five birdies along with seven pars, as he sits 69th overall after day one.
Finishing the day at 5-over par, Nikolai Holme shot a 77 in round one. He carded two birdies along with 11 pars in the opening 18 holes for 84th in the field.
The Sand Sharks will continue with round two on Friday, with tee times beginning at 10:00 a.m. for USCB.
