BLUFFTON, SC-While the 2009-10 school year brought many successes for USCB athletics on the baseball diamond, golf courses and running venues, Sand Shark athletes also had tremendous success in the classroom as evidenced by a number of awards recently presented to USCB student athletes for academic achievement.
Adrianna Saavedra (Cochabamaba, Bolivia) of the women's golf team and
Nolan Fuller (Smyrna, NY) from the baseball team were recognized at the recent end of the year banquet as the top over-all female and male student athletes during the past academic year.
Nic Tones (Bluffton, SC) and
Rachel Ford (Mt. Pleasant, SC) were recognized as having the highest grade point average for the cross country and track teams while
Aaron Hwang (Port Washington, NY) was the top academic performer for the men's golf team.
Hwang and
Eddie Stahlhuth (Labadie, MO) were both named to the 2010 Daktronics Men's Golf Scholar Athlete Team while Sally Woodhead (Thurleston, England) and
Sophie Henke (Trier, Germany) received the same honor for the 2010 Daktronics Women's Golf Scholar Athlete Team.
The Sun Conference has also named their 2010 Academic Award winners for student athletes who achieved a grade point average of 3.5 of better for the past year. Fifteen USCB student athletes were named:

David O'Neil (Ludlow, VT) and Joe Waropay (Bloomington, IL).
Men's Golf:

Kelli Nakano (Cave Creek, AZ),
Kaitlin O'Sullivan (Hilton Head, SC) and
