SAND SHARKS WOMEN GOLFERS CONCLUDE SEASON AT NAIA NATIONALS

ADRIANA SAAVEDRA HAD A 72 HOLE TOTAL OF 328 TO LEAD THE SAND SHARKS AT THE NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT
GREENEVILLE, TN-The USCB women's golf team concluded their 2010-11 season on Friday with an 18th placing at the NAIA National Tournament held at the Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, TN. The Sand Sharks shot a final round 337 to complete their 72 hole tournament with a final team score of 1326. Sun Conference rival , Embry Riddle, is the team leader after the first 54 holes. They will be playing in the afternoon round on Friday.

For the second day in a row, sophomore Kelli Nakano led USCB shooting a score of 81. Her score gave her a total of 328 after shooting previous rounds of 89, 80 and 78. Adriana Saavedra also totaled 328. A junior from Cochabamada, Bolivia, Saavedra had rounds of 85, 79, 81 and 83. Senior Sophie Henke was a stroke back at 329 firing scores of 79, 80, 83 and 87. Phyllis Langley and Kendra Collins completed their tournament at 341 and 347 respectivley. Langley shot rounds of 87, 86, 82 and 86 while Collins had scores of 90, 87, 83 and 87.

The Sand Sharks who were ranked 11th in the final NAIA national poll wrap up just their third season of competition. They placed seventh in the 2010 NAIA tournament. The Sand Sharks will return four of the five next season who competed this week in Greeneville as only Sophie Henke who graduated last month, will be the only team member not returning.
