USCB (8-8-1, 4-4 TSC) vs. Ave Maria (5-9-1, 1-7), 1 p.m. Saturday
The University of South Carolina Beaufort women's soccer team looks to extend its winning streak to a school-record five games and clinch a home game in the quarterfinals of the Sun Conference Tournament when the Sand Sharks host Ave Maria in their regular-season finale Saturday at Fin Land Field. With a win, USCB would surpass last season's conference win total, match last season's overall win total, assure itself of finishing at .500 or better for the season and earn the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament. The Sand Sharks are coming off a 1-0 win over visiting Southeastern, in which Megan Benoist scored the game's only goal off an assist from fellow freshman Shannon Blair and junior Chelsie Mummert recorded her second consecutive shutout and her fifth of the season. The Sand Sharks will honor their lone senior, Sinéad Byrne, as she plays her final regular-season home game after three seasons at USCB and four playing under coach Ed Heberling.Â

SAND SHARK BITES
• USCB's four-game winning streak is the longest in its three-year history. The Sand Sharks have defeated Warner, SCAD Savannah, St. Andrews and Southeastern since their last loss Oct. 11 at Webber International.Â
• Junior GK Chelsie Mummert was named the Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after allowing just one goal and recording 15 saves in victories over SCAD Savannah and St. Andrews. Mummert continued her strong play with five saves in a shutout vs. Southeastern on Thursday.Â
• Freshman F Brittany Lorentz holds the single-season school record for points (13) and has tied Kathleen Kent's record for assists (5). Sophomore MF Jessica Tooley also has tied Kent's mark for assists, and juniors Steph Moldenhauer and Alexa Muffley are one point behind Lorentz.
• Moldenhauer and Muffley are tied for the team lead with five goals, which also marks the single-season school record. Moldenhauer's 21 points over the past three seasons are a USCB career record, two ahead of Tooley.
• The Sand Sharks have not allowed a goal in their last 210 minutes of play dating to the second half against SCAD, and they have allowed only one goal in their last seven halves dating to a 3-2 win at Warner in which they rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit.
