Women’s Soccer Announces 11-Game 2020 Schedule

BLUFFTON, S.C. - Third-year USCB women's soccer head coach Jay Harris announced the 2020 slate on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, as it features 11 regular-season games and five home contests.

USCB opens its shortened regular season on Sept. 14, when the Sand Sharks travel to Cochran, Ga. to tangle with Middle Georgia State. The Sand Sharks are 2-1 all-time versus the Knights, as it will be the first time the two squads meet on the pitch since the 2017 season when USCB won 5-0.

The Sand Sharks will jump right into Sun Conference action on Sept. 19, as it will entertain Webber International for an 11 a.m. kickoff at Fin Land Field. The Sand Sharks had the Warriors' number last year, as USCB dismantled WIU, 3-0. The Sand Sharks are also 3-1-1 against WIU in the last five head-to-head matchups.

After a date with No. 4 Southeastern on Sept. 26 on the road, the Sand Sharks return to the Lowcountry to match up against Warner. Kickoff versus the Royals is slated for 11 a.m. on Sept. 30. USCB holds a commanding 6-2 all-time record over the Royals, but it is 2-2 over the last four seasons against WU.

USCB will commence the month of October on the road, as it will tangle with the reigning NAIA National Champions - No. 1 Keiser - on Oct. 4.

After the road trip, the Sand Sharks will play back-to-back home contests on Oct. 10 and 17 versus Florida Memorial and St. Thomas, respectively.

USCB has had success against the Lions, as it totes a six-game winning streak against FMU. During that stretch, the Sand Sharks have pitched six shutouts and tallied 25 goals.

The Sand Sharks are just 3-5 all-time versus the Bobcats, but USCB has never lost to STU at Fin Land Field - 3-0. All three of its home contests have been one-goal victories with the most recent head-to-head matchup at Fin Land Field happening in 2018 where the Sand Sharks scored the game-winning goal in the 103rd minute.

Three of the final four games on the 2020 schedule will be on the road, as the Sand Sharks travel to Ave Maria (Oct. 24), Webber International (Nov. 2) and Warner (Nov. 7). USCB's home finale will come against the Fire on Oct. 28, as it will square off with the nationally-ranked Southeastern squad that went 19-5 a year ago.

Due to the shortened campaign, the Sun Conference and TSC Athletic Directors voted for all eight teams to earn a berth to the single-elimination Sun Conference Championship. The postseason tournament will commence on Nov. 14 at host sites. The Sun Conference Championship match will be held on Nov. 20, and the winner will earn the automatic qualifier to the NAIA Championship, which will be held during the spring of 2021.

The USCB Athletic Department is finalizing its expectations and rules for fans, faculty/staff, student-athletes, workers and all in attendance for games at Fin Land Field. Those rules/expectations will be released on uscbathletics.com and USCB social media platforms prior to the 2020 season.
