BLUFFTON, S.C. - To conclude the home 2022 slate, the USCB women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to one of the top programs in the Peach Belt Conference, North Georgia, on Wednesday afternoon at Fin Land Field.
Inside the Box Score
Lexi Kaeser - two shots, one shot on goal
Emily Worrell - 90 minutes, nine saves, three goals allowed
How it Happened
North Georgia came out strong taking multiple shots on Worrell just minutes into the game.
Kaeser took the Sand Sharks lone shot on the Nighthawk goalkeeper in the eighth minute, but it was saved.
Worrell collected two saves in the first 10 minutes before facing another strong attack from the Nighthawks just five minutes later.
After facing 13 shots over the first 45 minutes, the two teams went into the break scoreless.
It only took North Georgia a minute to put a tally on the board in the second half.
The Sand Shark defense would continue to battle until the Nighthawks added another in the 69th minute and one more seven minutes later.
UNG's defense kept the Sand Sharks out of the shot column in the second 45-minute session, despite having several scoring opportunities.
Quotables
"We competed well against a top program and, although, I'm disappointed in the result, I am proud of how we played," said head coach Jay Harris. "The result is not indicative of the game, but for a few errors that they capitalized on, it was a fairly even game. We now have to focus on finishing strong in the last conference game of the year on Saturday."
