How it HappenedÂ
USCB and Georgia Southwestern battled through a scoreless opening period with the Canes outshooting the Sand Sharks, 4-1.Â
Martin took a shot from the backline, but it sailed right of the post. Kalvatn's shot was wide left. Harris had the only shot on goal for USCB in the 44th minute, but it was stopped by the GSW goalkeeper.Â
Worrell faced five shots, saving four in the first 45 minutes.Â
The two teams remained scoreless throughout the second half as neither team could muster much offense. Despite GSW taking two shots in the second half, USCB was on the offensive side of the pitch for most of the game, but just missed the final pass or decision to tally the game-winner.Â
Quotables
"It is always positive gto pick up points away from home, and it is great to get a clean sheet," said head coach Jay Harris. "However, it is disappointing not to take all three points when you dominate the game in the fashion we did. Unfortunately, today our final pass/action was missing, but I'm proud of how we dictated the whole game against a tough team on their home field."
