Track and Field Unveils Indoor and Outdoor Schedules; Begins Competition this Weekend

BLUFFTON, S.C. - The USCB men's and women's track and field teams announced its indoor and outdoor schedules on Tuesday, which features 11 total meets that includes three meets at the University of South Carolina, three JDL Fast Track meets and a KMS meet. All of the action begins this weekend (Dec. 3 and 4), as the Sand Sharks compete in two JDL events in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Indoor Schedule

As stated above, the Sand Sharks commence its indoor season with a two-meet weekend slate. To commence the slate will be the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-Off, which will be held inside the JDL Fast Track. The meet will begin at 9:30 am with three field events - shot put and men's and women's weight throw. The first running event begins at 10 a.m. with the 60m qualifiers. There will be live results, and that link can be found HERE

Just 24 hours later, the Sand Sharks will return to the JDL Fast Track facility to compete in the JDL Early Bird Invitational. The schedule for the meet on Dec. 4 will be very similar to the day before. In fact, it features a similar schedule with distances being the only alteration. There will be live results, and that link can be found HERE.

After Christmas Break, USCB will open the New Year at the KMS Invitational on Jan. 22. USCB is familiar with this meet, as it has competed at this outing for the last five seasons.

A big meet of the indoor slate comes on Feb. 3-4, as the Sand Sharks travel to Columbia, S.C. to race at a meet hosted by DI and Southeastern Conference member South Carolina.

To wrap up the indoor regular-season slate will be the JDL DMR Invitational from Feb. 17-18. A schedule has not been announced with the meet, but it will again be hosted in Winston-Salem, N.C. at the JDL Fast Track facility.

The NAIA Indoor National Championships will return to Brookings, S.D. on March 2-4, as the Sand Sharks will look to return to the postseason meet.

Outdoor Schedule

Less than a month later, the Sand Sharks will travel to nearby Savannah State on March 4 to christen the outdoor season. Two weeks later, USCB will return to Savannah, Ga. and Ted Wright Stadium for another meet hosted by the Tigers.

With just a few days of rest (six days), USCB travels to South Carolina for another highly-competitive meet - the USC Open. This event is a yearly meet hosted by the Gamecocks.

To end the month of March, both track and field teams will trek to the Sunshine State to participate in the Spike Classic. The meet is hosted by Embry-Riddle, who is a DII and Sunshine State Conference member.

USCB will return to South Carolina for the third time during the track and field slate, as it will compete in the USC Invite. This meet is a very familiar meet for the Sand Sharks, as they have participated in the event for three third straight years. Highlighting last year's performances was Kadari Mitchell, who finished in 12th in the 100m. Augustis Frasier represented the Sand Sharks in the same meet in the 400m hurdles, as he finished 19th with a 1:00.12.

Despite not being an active member in the Peach Belt Conference, the Sand Sharks will finish their regular season at the PBC Championships in Daytona, Fla. from April 28-29. The Sand Sharks won't be able to place as a team, but USCB will still field teams and have individuals place at the meet.

The NAIA Outdoor National Championships will be held from May 24-26 and is hosted by NAIA member Indiana Wesleyan.
