COLUMBIA, S.C. - To open the first day of the two-day meet, the USCB men's and women's indoor track and field teams traveled to SEC member South Carolina on Friday, and both teams competed in the opening day of the South Carolina Invitational.
Field Highlights
One of the biggest highlights of the day for USC Beaufort came in the women's weight throw when Allayah Bryan finished 19th out of 39 competitors. She made a throw of 12.30m, which is a new season high for the sophomore.
In the women's shot put event, Bryan headlined the finishes for the Sand sharks again, as she made a heave of 9.68m. She slotted in 31st out of 43 competitors.
Another headline came in the women's long jump when Aniah Wright collected a 22nd-place finish. She made a jump of 5.24m, which bested her career-best mark by 0.61m. De'Andra Brown also competed and finished 42nd with a leap of 4.73m.
On the men's side of the long jump, Jordan Rivers finished in 33rd place out of 41. He made a jump of 6.06m.
Track Highlights
In the women's 60m hurdles qualifier, USCB sent out two sprinters - Wright and Brown. Wright led the duo with a 29th place finish with a time of 10.26, and Brown finished three spots back with a mark of 10.42.
Augustis Frasier was the lone Sand Shark in the men's 60mH qualifier. He placed 21st with a mark of 9.37.
Jay King ran in the men's one mile run, and he clocked a time of 4:48.07. He slotted in 70th place in the race.
Ramon White and Michael Johnson tag teamed the men's 60m qualifier for USCB. White paced the duo with a 7.45 time, while Johnson was just behind him at 7.60,
In the women's 60m qualifiers, Marcela Shartouny earned a 8.72 time. She finished in 81st place.
What's Next?
The second and final day of the South Carolina Invitational will take place on Saturday morning. It will be a long day of competition, as it begins at 10 a.m. inside the Carolina Indoor.
