BLUFFTON, S.C. - Right before kickoff, the skies opened up and soaked Fin Land Field forcing a short delay, but the weather did not stop USCB's strong start to the season. How It Happened
Field conditions played a major part in the action, as both teams struggled with holding possession and creating opportunities. USCB had a number of scoring opportunities in the first 12 minutes, even having a goal called back due to an offside. It wasn't until the 29th minute that saw the Sand Sharks find the back of the net. Harris crossed a ball over the Erskine defense and found a streaking Bye-Andersen who sent it past Fleet goalkeeper for the score.
USCB would continue the pressure in the second half, outshooting the Flying Fleet - 13-0. Kaeser helped secure the victory with a one-timer from just inside the 18-yard box, making it 2-0.
The Sand Shark defense kept up its impressive work only allowing four shots on the afternoon, two which Worrell saved. Worrell has recorded 270 scoreless minutes this season.
"As a collective unit, we're working hard defensively," said coach Jay Harris. "Emily (Worrell) is doing her job well, she's communicating and she's made a couple of big saves for us and the backline is doing a tremendous job right in front of her."
"It's a collective unit from front to back. Everyone's doing their job, working hard."
