Top Plays: Weller caps comeback with walk-off homer

BLUFFTON -- Senior weekend is something circled on the calendar month ahead. Parents, family and friends make arrangements to be in attendance as we honor the career's of our senior student-athletes. Senior shortstop, Devon Weller put together one of the best moments of the year for USCB Softball as the Sand Sharks welcomed the Cougars of Columbus State to Hardeeville.

Beaufort fell behind early after CSU scored five runs in the second inning and then made it 6-0 with a single run in the sixth. That was when the comeback begin. USCB pushed across five runs in the bottom half of the inning, setting the stage for Weller's final at-bat.

Hittless through her first three ABs, Weller stepped into the box with a fellow senior Jaci Coleman on base and promptly delivered Jessica Lopez's 2-0 pitch well over the left field wall for a walk-off two-run homer to give the Sand Sharks a 8-6 win over the eventual PBC Tournament Champions. Her teammates flooded home plate in celebration as the "Beware of Flying Objects" sign was held high for those to see in the stands.

Weller would go on to have a terrific series racking up another three hits, including another home run to go along with three RBIs.
