BLUFFTON, SOUTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort cross country team hosted a dual meet with Savannah State on Wednesday morning, with the Sand Sharks dominating the competition by securing four of the top five spots and five of the top six—in the women's 4K race.

The men's team competed in an exhibition race against Savannah State, as Savannah State did not have enough runners for the meet to count.

On the women's side, Grace Napoli led the way for USCB, finishing the 4K race with a time of 16:46, setting a new season best surpassing her previous mark of 17:28 in the 4K. 

Avrie Farrington was next for the Sand Sharks, recording a new season-best time of 16:59.1, improving on her previous best of 17:39.2.

Finishing third overall was Sofia Mejia, who also set a new season best with a time of 17:46.3.

Chandler Riley and Teresa Shepard rounded out the scoring for USCB. Riley placed fourth overall with a time of 18:16.2, while Shepard, competing in her first 4K of the season, crossed the line in 19:33.8.

The Sand Sharks will return to action on October 11th, hosting the 18th Annual Sand Shark Invitational in Hardeeville, South Carolina. This will be the team's final meet before the Peach Belt Conference Championships.
