USCB SAAC Wins 2025-26 PBC SAAC Challenge Award

AUGUSTA, GEORGIA — The University of South Carolina Beaufort closed out its trip to the 2026 Peach Belt Conference SAAC Fall Retreat by taking home some hardware. The SAAC Retreat was a two-day event hosted in Augusta. USCB earned the 2025-26 SAAC Challenge Award, which is presented to the PBC SAAC that meets the conference's established criteria throughout the academic year.

Shawn Becker, co-advisor for SAAC, led USCB's student-athletes at the retreat. Graysen Asher, Adriane Skelton, Kasey Thompson, Alex Robbins, Madison Self, and Jake Rice were all in attendance. Overall the Peach Belt Conference SAAC retreat had a total of 53 student-athletes in attendance represented from all 11 PBC member institutions. 

"USCB SAAC is honored to accept the Conference SAAC Award on behalf of our entire athletic department. It is a privilege to be part of the PBC SAAC rebuild as we came through the NCAA DII membership process. I have to give a special shout out to Cameron Wissell, Director of External Operations at the PBC, for his continued support and efforts in helping to develop leadership within PBC SAAC." stated Shawn Becker.

Each university is evaluated throughout the academic year based on several criteria, including student-athlete attendance at PBC SAAC meetings, community service and engagement events, Make-A-Wish donation totals, Elite 18 Award winners, the percentage of student-athletes named to the PBC Honor Roll, and team sportsmanship winners.

"USCB has now had three PBC SAAC Presidents in a row as we have helped to re-invigorate what Conference SAAC means in the PBC. Being able to work alongside student-athletes and other administrators who are fiercely dedicated to service, leadership, and excellence is what collective commitment is about. And collective commitment is what PBC SAAC has evolved into by elevating every student-athlete in our conference" said Becker. 
 
The award recognizes the efforts of student-athletes and SAAC representatives across the conference in their commitment to leadership, community engagement, academics, and sportsmanship.
