LAKELAND, FL- Sand Sharks take last game of series against Southeastern University 7-3. Southeastern took two from the Sand Sharks winning game one 16-7, and game two 4-3 before the Sand Sharks battled back to win game three 7-3.
An unusual Saturday 7pm start for the Sand Sharks started out well, put the game quickly fell apart. After leading the game 7-1 through the first three innings, and holding on to a three run lead in the fourth, things really broke open in the fifth when Southeastern picked up six runs. The Sand Sharks remained scoreless from the fourth through the eighth, while the Fire continued to score. The Sand Sharks lost the first game of the series 7-16 in eight innings.
Saturday seemed to be a brand new day for the Sand Sharks who spit with the Fire. The two teams' bullpens really fought game one's battle. The Sand Sharks worked hard to tie the game up in the fifth and hold them scoreless through the seventh, sending the game into extra innings. The Fire however, pulled out the victory with one unearned run in the eighth. Sand Sharks lose 3-4.
Game three of the series proved to be the Sand Sharks moment to prove their talent. Starting pitcher
Jorge Olmo went six innings allowing only one earned run. The Sand Sharks won game three 7-3.
The Sand Sharks will be back in action Tuesday April 21st at NCAA D I Savannah State University; fist pitch will be thrown promptly at 2pm.
