HARDEEVILLE, SC- USCB broke open a tight 5-4 game in the bottom of the eighth scoring seven runs and went on to defeat Edward Waters 12-4 in the first game of a three game Sun Conference series on Friday at the Richard Gray Baseball Complex in Hardeeville.
The visiting Tigers scored three runs in the top the third frame off Sand Shark starter Adam Miller to take a 3-0 lead as Travonne Fuller's triple brought home two of the runs.
The Sand Sharks got on the board in the bottom of the same frame.
Clay Bonds singled and advanced to second on an error. Gabe Torres' fielder's choice brought home the USCB courtesy runner

Brandon Collins led off the home team's fourth inning with his fourth home run of the season. The Sand Sharks scored two more runs in the fourth as
Spencer Jackson doubled home
Brett Wheeler and Blake Sanders to put USCB up 4-3.
Torres singled to start the Sand Sharks fifth inning. He went to third on a two base throwing error and eventually scored on
RJ Neal's rbi single.
After Edward Waters cut the margin to 5-4 with a run off reliever
Kyle McCullough in the top of the eighth, USCB opened the flood gates in the bottom of the frame to score seven more runs on seven base hits to put a lock on the game. The Sand Sharks sent twelve batters to the plate in the eighth. All the action took place with two outs. Jackson had his second two rbi double of the game while Collin's single produced another two runs. Neal and pinch hitter
Jeremy Webb also had rbi's in the eighth.
Miller settled down after the third and gave up only one hit over the next four frames to pick up his eighth victory of the season against no losses. McCullough pitched the final 1 2/3 innings and recorded the save.
The win gives the Sand Sharks a 28-10 record over-all and they now stand 12-6 in conference play. The two team will be back in action in a 1:00 doubleheader on Saturday at the Richard Gray Baseball Complex in Hardeeville.
