Hardeeville, SC- The USCB baseball team took on Voorhees College today in a non-conference contest at Richard Gray Field in Hardeeville, SC. The Sand Sharks offense continued to produce at the plate in an 18-0 win. The victory moves the win streak to 10 for the Sand Sharks and 11-1 overall.
Matthew Graney, a junior from Richmond Hill, GA, got the win on the mound in five shut-out innings. He only allowed one hit and recorded four strikeouts on the day. Andres Castro, Miami, FL, and
Alexander Graham, Newberry, FL, each threw an inning in relief for USCB on the mound. The three hurlers allowed only one hit in the shut-out.
At the plate the hits kept coming as each starting player scored at least one run for the Sand Sharks. Gabe Torres hit his first homerun of the season, a two-run shot over the left field fence. Torres went 3-for-4 on the day with two runs scored, three RBI's, and was a triple short of hitting for the cycle.
USCB travels to Babson Park, FL on Friday, February 25th and Saturday, February 26th to take on Webber International University for three Sun Conference games. First pitch is slated for 6:00 pm on Friday and a double-header scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm on Saturday.
