Lakeland, FL-USCB took the field against Southeastern University to finish the Sun Conference Series on Saturday.  After coming up short on Friday the Sand Sharks were hoping to get back on track, but the Fire stayed hot to win both games.  USCB lost 16-6 and 6-2 on the day to drop to 16-12 on the season and 6-9 in conference play.

 

In the first game the Sand Sharks jumped out to a 6-2 lead through five innings, but was unable to hold on as Southeastern University outscored USCB 14-0 in the final two innings.  Andrew Barrineau was the pitcher of record for the Sand Sharks.  Barrineau falls to 1-2 on the season for USCB.  Ty Main, David O'Neil, Spencer Jackson, and Gabe Torres, the first four batters for USCB, each had two hits and combined to score five of the six runs in the game. 

 

In the second game the Sand Sharks led 2-1 through the first 5 1/2 innings before falling 6-2.  Michael Heesch struck out six batters in the loss and falls to 3-2 on the season.  Brett Martin went 4-for-4 in the second game, and Spencer Jackson had two more hits and had both RBI's. 

 

USCB will be back at home on Tuesday, March 22nd, to play a non-conference match verse Coker College at 4:00 pm.  Games will be streamed live at www.uscbathletics.com.  The next Sun Conference home series will be Friday, March 25th and Saturday, March 26th against Warner University.
